So if you’re looking for the ideal flan recipe, you’re in the right place!
Ingredients
- 120 grams of sugar (for the caramel)
- 3 tablespoons of water
- 6 eggs
- 1 can of condensed milk
- ½ liter of milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence (optional)
Preparation
- Caramel: In a saucepan, mix the 120 grams of sugar with the 3 tablespoons of water. Cook over medium heat without stirring until the sugar dissolves and begins to turn golden. Once ready, quickly pour the caramel into the base of a flan dish or into individual molds. Let it cool.
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs lightly with a fork or whisk.
- Add the condensed milk and continue mixing until well combined.
- Then, add the half liter of milk and, if you wish, the vanilla essence. Stir well until you get a homogeneous mixture.
- Carefully pour the mixture over the hardened caramel in the flan pan or molds.
- Cook in a bain-marie in the oven preheated to 180°C for approximately 50 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean.
- Once cooked, remove from the oven and let cool to room temperature. Then, refrigerate for at least 4 hours, ideally overnight.
- To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan and unmold onto a plate. The liquid caramel will spill over the flan, giving it that characteristic look and flavor.
