Buttery soft and so delicious! – Indian butter chicken from the oven

That sounds delicious! Here is a recipe for Indian Butter Chicken from the oven:

Ingredients:

  • 500 g chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 lemon (juice)
  • 150 g natural yoghurt
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 TL Garam Masala
  • 1 TL Kurkuma
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for spiciness)
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 EL Butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 200 ml Sahne
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • Fresh coriander to garnish
  • Cooked basmati rice or naan bread to serve

Directions:

  1. Marinate the chicken pieces in lemon juice, yogurt, chopped garlic, grated ginger, garam masala, turmeric, ground cumin, ground coriander, cayenne pepper and salt. Let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  3. Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat. Fry the chopped onion until translucent.
  4. Add the marinated chicken pieces and fry until lightly browned.
  5. Add the chopped tomatoes and tomato paste. Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the tomatoes are soft and the sauce has thickened.
  6. Reduce the heat and add the cream. Cook the sauce for another 2-3 minutes until it has thickened slightly.
  7. Spread the chicken and sauce in a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  8. Garnish the butter chicken with fresh coriander and serve hot with cooked basmati rice or naan bread.
