Filled puff pastry for an aperitif

Filled puff pastry is ideal as an aperitif or finger food for various occasions. Here is a simple recipe for stuffed puff pastry with spinach and feta:

Ingredients:

  • 1 puff pastry roll (from the fridge or homemade)
  • 200g fresh spinach, washed and chopped
  • 100g feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg (optional, for egg wash)

Directions:

  1. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into squares or rectangles, depending on which shape you prefer.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a pan and briefly sweat the chopped garlic in it. Add the chopped spinach and fry until the spinach is wilted. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Let the spinach cool and then mix with the crumbled feta.
  4. Place a teaspoon of the spinach and feta mixture on each piece of puff pastry.
  5. Close the puff pastry pieces according to the shape, e.g. B. to triangles or pockets.
  6. If desired, brush the filled puff pastry pieces with beaten egg to give them a shiny surface.
  7. Place the filled puff pastry pockets on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven according to the instructions on the puff pastry packaging, usually at around 180°C (fan oven) for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove the filled puff pastry pockets from the oven and let them cool briefly before serving.

You can vary these filled puff pastry pieces as you wish, for example by adding other vegetables, herbs or spices. Experiment with the fillings to suit your personal taste.
